Happy Fall Y’all
It’s been a week since the first day of “Fall” (you know, one of three seasons that doesn’t exist in South Florida…), and it’s been a steady low 90′s in my neck of the suburbs. It takes about 20 minutes to get the after school care from the elementary school, and for those 20 minutes I feel like I’m going to DIE when I’m outside. In fact, my co-worker and I had the bright idea that they should install misters along the sidewalk by the front of the school. Genius, right? I don’t think it’s in the county’s budget though.
I have yet to decorate for Fall, mostly because the sweltering heat has turned me off to going up to the attic to get the decorations. But I will soon, the stores filled with lovely autumn things are inspiring me. (Dear stores: Stop it with the one Christmas aisle, it’s WAY too early!!). I am excited that Pumpkin everything is available – I’ve had three Pumpkin Spice Lattes already!
I’m hoping the weather cooperates next weekend when I’m in Orlando for the Tower of Terror Ten Miler. I’m so excited to be running the race again, Disney races are fantastic (except for the expensive registration part). And while I haven’t gone running as often as I should, I have been cross-training since July. I joined a local gym that features HIIT (high intensive interval training) exercises, and I love it! I’ve gone consistently since my enrollment the first week of July, and we warm up with a 0.4 mile run every day, so I have actually run more than I thought. While they aren’t long runs, they do keep me active. I’m hoping to do a long run this week, maybe two, in preparation for Saturday. Wish me luck!
